This week, students continued reading their book and focused on examples of sequence words which help organize thoughts and tell a story.
In the book, there's a sentence that starts with "Over the next few weeks..." Junior asked what that meant and it inspired a great discussion. Students initially read it and thought that "over" would mean "after" but after the discussion, Junior was like, "So it's more like 'during?'" Great critical thinking though, even if his initial thought was wrong.
Also when discussing ideas for our project, Ivy said she's been thinking about writing her story about fidelity and that she wanted to use seahorses as her animal characters metaphor because they have one mate their entire life. Great metaphorical connection.
