Level 3 [Advanced]
An interesting discussion this week: Students said they rarely face challenges when speaking in English on the phone, but one exception/challenge is when people use words that students are not used to using/hearing. For example, Jessica/West Side said, "I remember the first time someone told me something about 'silverware' and I didn't know what they were talking about because I know them as 'utensils.' I had never heard 'silverware' before." --Later on, the same thing happened with the word "staff" for Edwin/Village, "What's a 'staff' picnic? I never heard of 'staff' before. We just say employees picnic."
