This week students continued working on their fables. They began writing the beginning of their story and had to use sensory details to 'grab' their readers attention. This was a challenge for most, so we stepped outside the classroom and talked about the warehouse around us. What do you hear, see, smell? After that, everyone's stories came to life which sensory details. Licette wrote that where her character lived smelled like garbage (ha!) while Ronnie spent time researching the Panda and describing what it looks like in detail.
Because so many students were researching their animal, we had a converstaion about plargarism. Ensuring that if you use another person's words or ideas that you give them full credit. A new word but not a new concept for students.
